Child protection, child rights promotion and education for all children is the motto of Billion Steps Foundation. We aim to work with a results based approach involving children, families and communities with direct impacts and outcomes on issues and concerns facing children. We dream of a world where no child is subjected to live under any sort of child protection concern or violation of his or her rights. Our mission is to Develop holistic models at community and family levels and from there impact national policies and laws for a complete mitigation of all forms of violence against and neglect of children. Our innovative models include: 1. Gulluck community school for child and family strengthening. 2. Technical Support to low cost private schools. 3. Yashoda Asiya scheme for care and protection of orphan children. 4. Shiksha samwad campaign reaching out village communities for sensitization and prevention of child rights violation. Currently we are working in around 85 communities, spread across 12 Districts in 9 states of India. These localities are highly vulnerable areas where the population is at a disadvantaged and in need. It is a well known fact that the children of disadvantaged areas are always at various types of risks, such as neglect and abandonment, child labour, human trafficking, child marriage, etc. Therefore we believe that our presence is necessary in these areas for any successful intervention. We are carrying out our interventions after thorough needs assessments and relevance. For example, under Gulluck project community members are educated towards making their own contributions in creating better educational and protective environment at the community level. By doing so we are able to create self funded, self sustaining and long lasting intervention models.
